London's Waterway Guide

"London's Waterway Guide presents all the essential information for cruising on the rivers and canals in the London area in one volume. This second edition has been completely revised and updated by the author. New charts have been drawn to cover the increasing role that the Thames and Lee rivers can now play in leisure boating.

Its scope includes the Thames below Teddington, the Grand Union Canal from Harefield to the Thames and Paddington Basin, the Regent's and the River Lee to Waltham.

Every section of this varied and exciting waterway system is described in detail. Large scale charts, and comprehensive directories provide an instant guide to facilities, mooring sites, tides, locks, public transport and inns making this guide indispensable to all users of the capital's waterway network"

Note Sadly this book is now out of print. If you can find a copy, then buy it! Although out of date in places, most of the information still stands and phone numbers are included for just about anyone you might need to contact for confirmation of details.

There is a more recent book, also written by Chris Cove Smith and published by Imray Norrie Laurie and Wilson, which has replaced the guide.

"The River Thames Book" is "a guide to the Thames from the Barrier to Cricklade with the River Wey, basingstoke Canal and Kennet & Avon Canal to Great Bedwyn".

Whilst this book covers much more than the Thames in london, and has much less detail on the Tideway, it is still a worthwhile purchase. You can buy on-line from Amazon -- just click on the icon below.
